Central Virginia Contra Dances
- Club Contras is central Virginia's home for alternative-music contras (also commonly known as "techno contras"), normally on the 1st Sunday of each month at Greenwood Community Center. This high-energy community dancing with a cool dance club atmosphere and a DJ playing music that goes well beyond the traditional jigs and reels. Electronic, techno, house, electro-trad, disco, retro and classic rock ... all are possible. You'll experience club lighting including black lights and a powerful sound system with extra bass. We even provide glow sticks. The dances are easy to learn and loads of fun. We offer a brief orientation for first-time dancers a half hour before each event. Floyd Contra Dance Club
- The Blue Ridge Country Dancers Club contra dance page. Here you'll find information about contra dancing in Floyd, VA, as well as the Blacksburg Contra Dance and the new Roanoke Contra Dance. Check out the link for all the latest Blacksburg info. It's not necessary to bring a partner, but we do insist on clean, soft-soled shoes. All dances are taught; beginners are welcome.
- Blue Ridge Country Dancers Club sponsors the second Saturday contra dance at the Sun Music Hall in downtown Floyd. Contra dancing is easy relaxed fun, and though the figures are done with a partner, singles are always welcome. Contra dancing is suitable for all ages, in fact the original form of the dance, such as the Virginia Reel, was a popular U.S. folk tradition from about 1830-1890.

Reston Contra Dance
- The Reston contra dance started in 1983. The house band since the beginning has been the June Apple Band, consisting of a lively mix of fiddle, clarinet, mandolin-banjo-guitar, and piano. Top-notch callers from the Washington area lead the dances. Our dance provides a warm, welcoming atmosphere in the cold winter months for new and experienced dancers alike. Potluck goodies are enjoyed during the break.
